Utrecht introduces the new Shelter City guest: Lottie Cunningham Wren! With her non-profit organisation CEJUDHCAN (Center for Justice and Human Rights of the Nicaraguan Coast), Lottie advocates for the rights of the indigenous and afro-descendant peoples of Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast. Through her implementation of strategic litigation, Lottie has worked to protect the collective human rights of indigenous peoples.Van 28 juni tot en met 1 juli hadden wij de Colombiaanse mensenrechtenverdedigster en advocate Olga Silva, van de organisatie Humanidad Vigente, op bezoek voor een speaker tour over de rol van vrouwen in het vredesproces in Colombia. Eind november 2016 is in Colombia definitief het Vredesakkoord met de FARC ondertekend en aangenomen. „Dit betekent echter niet dat er in Colombia nu ook echt vrede is. Wij zijn bezig met het implementeren van het akkoord, maar dat gaat moeizaam.
